Is This London’s Happiest Cafe?

We think it might be... and you can write on the walls...

Just off Brick Lane in East London, there’s a café with a simple mission: to be your Happy Place.

The Canvas is a café and creative venue which offers much more than the typical London café fare. This little social enterprise has teamed up with the Museum of Happiness to run free events and workshops to inspire your creativity, connect with others… and just generally make you feel good about yourself.

You can find everything from mindfulness and relaxation workshops to singing lessons and supper clubs. Canvas has even played host to some other social movements we feature on GOTilo like Tea with Strangers and Karma Kitchen.

It is worth dropping in just for the café bit. The coffee’s good, the food is ethically-sourced (with plenty of vegan options) and if you’re a freelancer, you won’t be hassled to buy something or leave. Oh, and if you really want to let loose, you can even scribble on the walls.

The Canvas is part of the Happy Café network, an idea inspired by the Action for Happiness movement. We’ll be bringing more of these orgs to your attention in future posts…
