4. Cone Coffee Makers

It’s just the regular flat bottomed filter with a conical shape. The shape makes sure all the water filters through the coffee powder. Naturally, the resultant brew is stronger. If paper filters are used, there is no scope of the filter falling and spillage.

5. Stovetop Coffee Makers

Of course, they are for the coffee enthusiast to use at home. It has three different parts – the lower holds water, the middle holds the coffee powder and the top carafe holds the brew. You have to fill water and ground coffee in the respective containers, assemble the coffee maker and put it on the stove. Wait till all the water from the bottom percolates to the carafe through the coffee.

6. Espresso Coffee Maker

That’s your thing if you want to be your own Barista. These machines pass hot water through the coffee powder to make your cup. Easy to use, they are available in automatic and semi-automatic variants.

7. Turkish Coffee Maker

It is probably the simplest of all. The technique of making coffee is as old as it can get.
Just add fine coffee powder and water to the pot and bring it to a boil. Let cool for a couple of seconds and let it come to boil once again. Repeat if desired. You have a thick brew ready.

8. Cold Brew Coffee Makers

They are extremely convenient to use. Besides the brew is less acidic and smoother. You can also store it in the fridge. The brew takes longer to prepare – up to 12 hours but the advantage is you can stock it. You can have it hot or cold.

9. Percolator

If you are a coffee fan who camps often, the good old percolator is your friend to ensure you get your coffee even in the wilderness of your campsite.

10. Aeropress

Aeropress is a lot like the French Press with some differences. If you like to experiment with your coffee in terms of proportions of water and coffee powder and temperature and brewing time, Aeropress would be just right for you. The problem is, you can brew only one cup at a time.

11. Drip Coffee Maker

These are meant for those who like filter coffee. Hot water is used and the machine uses paper/metal/plastic filters to separate the brew. Some combo coffee makers with a grinder are available too.

If shopping for a coffee maker, this gives you a fair idea of the different types available in the market. Depending on the brewing technique you like the most, you can select a particular type.

Some other factors you should consider are

1. The Capacity Required

Most of these are available in a single cup to bigger capacity variants. Consider how many cups you need to brew every day in general.

2. Long Term Cost

You may have to keep buying refills/filters as you use the machine. Give a good thought to the running cost.

3. Ease of Maintenance

Can it go into the dishwasher? If not, are you ready to clean it every day?

4.Design

Are you comfortable handling it? Does it fit in your kitchen, aesthetically and practically?

5. Time required

How long does it take to make the coffee? Here very often you have to select a tradeoff between time and taste.

This website also gives you a map of the Pittsburg area and allow for you to search by state and region for the dispensaries available in a particular area and while Pittsburg only has three to choose from currently, this does not mean that there will not be more in the future or that the first one you select will have the strain of medical marijuana that works best for your illness.

The Marijuana Doctors website provides you with more than doctors that have been certified to prescribe medical marijuana for their patients. It can provide you with information about the dispensaries in the area and give you enough information to be able to contact them directly about their products and strains. They can also give you the one that is closest to you by searching by your zip code.

Weed maps are one of those websites that can not only help you find a dispensary, but they can provide you with the latest deals and laws around marijuana. They can provide you with links to the dispensaries’ websites and contact information. They also are dedicating to educating their visitors with marijuana information and providing up-to-date information.

4. Friends/Family

While there is some stigma among families and friends, this is one to approach carefully. You will know who you will be able to talk to about finding dispensaries and which ones have what supplies. Chances are you know at least one person of needs marijuana for medical purposes and if you ask carefully you can learn about the stores they visit and what sort of cultures they have as well as the supplies.

Just be careful with this one. Not everyone wants to discuss their medical situation and it is easy to offend if they believe you are making assumptions about them.

So, you found a dispensary, but it does not have what you need or want in terms of strains or forms. Most staff at dispensaries is more than willing to help you find what you need to treat your illness and will provide it willingly.

Medical marijuana in pa is legal in Pittsburg though it’s not actively dispensed for recreational purposes make sure your medical marijuana card is up to date and on your person should you need it. It is also good to keep track of what strains you have tried at what dispensaries so you do not get any duplicates as you search for what will work best for you. Seasoned city explorers will have probably graced this rooftop before (and perhaps groaned at the £3 cover charge). But while the bar itself pretty is well-known, the cause behind it isn’t. The Roof Park is owned by the Bootstrap Company – a registered charity established back in the 70s to encourage entrepreneurship in the local area and support residents to improve their employability skills. The charity now provides affordable workspace, runs enterprise bootcamps for local young people and even has its own Bootstrap Fund to support high impact businesses. All proceeds from the bar – including the £3 entry fee – go towards supporting the work of the charity. So well worth the cost when you think about it.

The Roof Park itself is also run according to the same social principles – check out the events calendar and you’ll find all kinds of community and fundraising events benefitting the local community. And the rooftop venue is just one of three community spaces managed by the charity: there’s also a World War Two Bunker and a Bee Garden.

These are three beautiful example of how disused urban spaces in deprived areas can be transformed for the benefit of the whole community (rather than, say, being sold to developers and turned into luxury flats). The Bee Garden, for example, started life as an abandoned car park. In its place, the Bootstrap has fashioned a growing community garden with workshops for small businesses – currently occupied by emerging designers from the local area – and a home to some special bees.

The Roof Park had similarly humble beginnings – as a collection of allotments looked after by local volunteer gardeners, with a pop-up bar and a small programme of events. It has since seen a huge rise in popularity off the back of Dalston’s new-found reputation as one of the city’s prime nightlife spots, but it has achieved this in an inclusive way. All profits are recycled to give a foot-up to those who struggled through the areas less successful past… social enterprise at its brilliant best.

The Mama Cat Trust rescues and supports foxes, cats and other animals around London … and they’re looking for new volunteers

It’s quite amazing to think that we share our city with 10,000 foxes. As London’s boundaries have sprawled ever outwards they’ve gobbled up many rural habitats, leaving foxes with no choice but to swap their tweed jackets for skinny jeans, grow a beard, get a tattoo and try to make it in the big city. And with its sheltered gardens, expansive parks and easy food sources, London has provided the perfect environment for the urban fox to thrive.

But city living and daily contact with humans has brought its share of problems for our vulpine neighbours. Besides the diseases and car accidents, even worse has been the misinformation that has led to many unnecessary culls. Contrary to what some think, foxes are classified as wild animals not vermin. Far from being pests, experts believe that they play an important part in London’s eco-system – keeping rodent numbers down.

Fortunately, there are groups like the Mama Cat Trust dedicated to educating people about these beautiful animals and rescuing them from harm. Originally established to rescue and humanely neuter stray cats in Spain, the North London-based organisation has found itself increasingly responding to the needs of animals closer to home.

Last year, the Trust’s Founder, Karen Heath, spearheaded a campaign to save a family of (clearly educationally-minded) foxes who had made a home for themselves in the grounds of an Islington primary school… perhaps just trying to game the admissions policy? The school planned to bring in exterminators on health and safety grounds. But Karen’s campaign mobilised 200 supporters – including teachers and parents – causing the school to reverse its plans and explore more humane deterrent methods.

Since then, foxes have been an ever more important part of Karen’s work. She now runs monthly meet-ups in Holloway for those interested in learning or becoming rescue volunteers. Karen is also hoping to raise enough money to turn her voluntarily-run group into a full charity, so animal lovers looking for a good fundraising cause for their next charitable adventure might want to consider this as an option.

If you want to get involved with the Trust’s work, the next meeting is on 18th September at 7:30pm in Holloway. Car owners are especially welcomed as many foxes need to be transported to safety but for those without transport, there are other things that can be done to help.…

Who doesn’t love bao? Probably one of the greatest foods in the world. Now it gets given the vegan treatment.
We’re in awe of the ever creative Janncy, who here teaches you how to use fresh vegetable juice and ingredients to make authentic Shanghai Shengjianbao.

This class begins with a short introduction about shengjianbao culture while drinking Chinese tea. Then it’s 2 hours in hands-on covering everything you need to know, making bao by hand from scratch to take home. Whethere it’s white Bao – 高麗菜包 Pointed spring cabbage with onion, carrot and glass noodle – or Red Bao – Kimchi with courgettes – it’s a feast for the eyes and senses.

Ulcer Treatment

When my brother was twelve he had to have some ulcer treatment. I don’t remember what he had to do, but I do remember being shocked that a child would have ulcers. The doctor said it was too much of the wrong foods, and that was something that my dad felt was his fault. At the time we was single, and he wasn’t good at grocery shopping. He had good intentions but he did not understand much about nutrition. Though he went faithfully to the grocery store so that we had food, he didn’t know how to do it.

My dad bought three things in multiples. He bought Pepsi, Tony’s frozen pizza, and the stuff needed to make spaghetti. That was all we ate, and in retrospect, those foods were not good for my brother’s stomach. That was apparently why he needed ulcer treatment, though I’m not sure foods actually cause ulcers. From what I know, some sort of bacteria causes them, but those foods would definitely cause a person to have a lot of pain. My dad changed his grocery buying habits, and my brother’s ulcer treatments didn’t have to last very long.

If you are having a lot of pain, you might want to ask your doctor if you need ulcer treatment. You usually know you are having ulcer pain if the pain is sharp and radiates from your stomach area. This can be worse when you have eaten spicy foods, such as Italian or even Mexican dishes, and can be exasperated by drinking things like soda or coffee. If you don’t get ulcer treatment when you need it, you can end up with bleeding ulcers and when that happens, things are only going to get worse from there.


Some people try to do their own ulcer treatment by drinking Pepto when they have pain. That might help with immediate relief, but it will not help the ulcer heal. There may be special meds you need to take to get rid of the ulcer, and you may have to change your diet as a part of ulcer treatment. You might also be told to exercise to reduce the amount of stress you are carrying around. Your food choices, stress levels, and the time you have had your ulcer all contribute to how much pain you feel each day. Make sure you listen to your doctor and alter your lifestyle according to their wishes.…
